Adopted Building Codes for Patio Covers in Longview

the City of Longview's Building Inspection page says the City of Longview has officially adopted the updated building codes. The adopted list also names the 2021 International Pool and Spa Code, the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (marked no change recommended), the 2021 International Property Maintenance Code and the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code.

Listed as proposed

The same page lists the 2021 International Existing Building Code and the 2021 International Residential Code under the heading Proposed Amendments, not in the list that took effect on July 1, 2026. It does not say what happens to either. We do not say which code a patio cover is built to.

What the division does

The page says the Building Inspection Division ensures compliance with the City's ordinances for residential and commercial occupancies regarding building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, gas, medical gas and vacuum systems. It also says the division performs building plan review. It does not say what that means for a patio cover, a covered patio or a patio roof.
