Patio Covers in East Mountain

East Mountain's Ordinance Index lists a zoning chapter. The index, posted on the City's own site, has the entry "CHAPTER30 ZONING". It lists chapter and section titles only and does not mention patio covers, so this site states no rule for East Mountain.

Patio Covers around East Mountain

The index (read October 8, 2026) is a Word document linked from the City Ordinances page. It also lists a subdivision chapter, "CITY OF EAST MOUNTAIN CHAPTER16 SUBDIVISION", whose sections are titled Plat Specifications, Application Elements of the Subdivision Policy, Plats for Oil and Gas Lines, Deed Restrictions, Maintenance of Well Sites and Extraterritorial Jurisdictions. The chapters themselves are not posted on the page, so we have not seen what the zoning chapter says.

The page does not mention patio covers, so what follows is our inference, not a rule: a city that lists a zoning chapter has rules about how land may be used, so a person planning a patio cover in East Mountain has a reason to ask the City Secretary's office for Chapter 30 before choosing a design. We say nothing about any lot.

A flat steel finishing trowel, a float and a short timber screed laid flat on a bare timber board — patio cover, Longview. Illustrative example.

Permits and the City of East Mountain rules

The City of East Mountain's Ordinance Index lists a Zoning chapter and a Subdivision chapter as titles. We have not read the chapters, and we do not say a permit is or is not needed for a patio cover.

Longview's own pages are set out on these pages: adopted building codes, the Unified Development Code topics, asking the City first and East Texas weather and sun.
