Patio Covers in Gladewater
Gladewater sits mostly across two counties, and its building page names an older code than Longview's. The City of Gladewater's home page says it sits predominantly in Gregg and Upshur counties, with small portions in the southwest section lying in Smith County, and its Code Enforcement page says its Building Inspector ensures construction is met under the 2012 International Building Code as adopted by the City.

Patio Covers around Gladewater
The Code Enforcement page (read October 7, 2026) also says construction and permitting must comply with local requirements as described by the Gladewater Code of Ordinance. It does not mention patio covers, and the pages we read do not say what the ordinance requires of one.
None of these city pages mentions patio covers, so what follows is our inference, not a rule: a city naming the 2012 International Building Code and a neighbor naming the 2021 edition are working from different editions, so a provider's experience in one city is not evidence about the other's rules. Ask the city the project sits in.
